National Plan for Integrated Wildland Fire Management
Major fires, which are increasingly more likely given the severe and variable weather conditions and which are expected to worsen, usually occur in landscapes which lack planning and management, occupied by communities that are not mindful of the current circumstances.
An inadequate perception of the risk, which places too much expectation on protection under a suppression system that, despite operational improvements, will always have its limitations, requires the simultaneous implementation of multiple holistic and participatory solutions that are put into practice/implemented in an integrated and cross-cutting manner.
It is this challenge that the National Plan for Integrated Wildland Fire Management hopes to address.
